Quick Start — Full Walkthrough
Follow these steps in order. Each step builds on the previous one. Budget 15-20 minutes for your first full run-through.
PHASE 1: GET IN
| Step | Action | Expected Result |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Open the Beta URL in Chrome or Edge | Tactical login screen loads |
| 2 | Create a new Mission ID — enter any username + password and click Register. Or login with existing credentials. | Account created / authenticated, redirected to the Site Intel & Setup panel |
| 3 | Click "New Mission" to start a fresh project, or click the folder icon to import an existing project from cloud storage | New blank site plan created (or loaded project appears) |
PHASE 2: SATELLITE LOCK-ON
| Step | Action | Expected Result |
|---|---|---|
| 4 | Type a commercial address into the "Satellite Locator" search bar (e.g. a warehouse, hospital, or multi-building campus) | Address autocomplete fills in; click the search arrow to lock on |
| 5 | The satellite imagery loads centered on the target. Use the zoom slider (left side) to get the right level of detail. | High-res Esri satellite tiles render around the target |
| 6 | (Optional) Toggle "Vector Outlines" ON (right panel) to superimpose a geometric street/property map — helps the AI identify building boundaries later | Semi-transparent vector overlay appears on top of satellite imagery |
| 7 | Use the "Grid Alignment Rotation" tool at the bottom-left to rotate the map so the building walls align with the grid. Click "Reset North" if you need to start over. | Building edges align to horizontal/vertical grid lines |
PHASE 3: CAPTURE & CROP
| Step | Action | Expected Result |
|---|---|---|
| 8 | Once the satellite view is aligned, click the "CAPTURE SATELLITE" button on the right panel | The full satellite view is captured as a static image. The overlay switches to image editing mode. |
| 9 | Click "START CROPPING" to enter crop mode | Crop handles appear on the captured image |
| 10 | Drag the crop handles to frame just the building or site area you want to plan. You can also use the Rotation slider to fine-tune alignment before cropping. | Selection box tightens around the target building perimeter |
| 11 | Click "APPLY CROP" | The image is trimmed to your selection. You now see the cropped satellite view with alignment controls. |
| 12 | (Pro tip) You can click "Save Progress" at any time to save your work as a draft. The "Settings" button is also available here to configure API keys without leaving the workflow. | Draft saved to local storage; Settings modal accessible from within the overlay |
PHASE 4: AI WIREFRAME GENERATION
| Step | Action | Expected Result |
|---|---|---|
| 13 | Click "GENERATE AI WIREFRAME" (the purple button). Note: If you haven't configured Google API credentials yet, a warning will appear prompting you to open Settings first. | Gemini Vision processes the cropped satellite image and generates a dark-mode tactical wireframe with extracted geometry (walls, zones) |
| 14 | Review the AI-generated wireframe. Use the fine-tune rotation slider to adjust if needed, or the Eraser Tool to clean up false-positive walls the AI picked up | Clean wireframe with only the correct structural elements visible |
| 15 | Click "INITIATE PLANNING PHASE" to lock in the wireframe and proceed to device placement | App transitions to the PLAN phase with the wireframe as the background canvas |
PHASE 5: ALTERNATIVE — BLUEPRINT SCANNER
| Step | Action | Expected Result |
|---|---|---|
| 16 | Instead of satellite — click the "Blueprint Scanner" card on the main setup page | File picker opens |
| 17 | Upload a photo of any floor plan (hand-drawn sketch, printed plan, or architectural drawing) | Image appears in the overlay, ready for cropping and AI processing |
| 18 | Follow the same crop → AI wireframe flow (Steps 9-15 above) | AI processes the blueprint image and extracts structural geometry |
PHASE 6: DEVICE PLACEMENT & PLANNING
| Step | Action | Expected Result |
|---|---|---|
| 19 | Select Camera from the device palette and click on the wireframe to place it | Camera icon placed on map, FOV cone appears automatically |
| 20 | Drag the FOV cone handle to adjust direction and field of view | Cone rotates smoothly, coverage area updates in real-time |
| 21 | Place additional cameras, Nodes (IDF/MDF), WiFi APs, and Access Readers | Multiple devices placed, cable auto-routes to nearest Node |
| 22 | Calibrate scale: use the CALIBRATE tool to set a known distance on the plan (e.g. a wall known to be 50ft) | Scale locks in, cable footage calculations become accurate in real-world feet |
| 23 | Review total cable footage in the sidebar — verify it matches your estimate of the runs | Running cable total displayed per run and as a project sum |
PHASE 7: 3D & ADVANCED FEATURES
| Step | Action | Expected Result |
|---|---|---|
| 24 | Click the 3D View button — map transitions to photorealistic Google 3D Tiles | Devices and FOV cones rendered in 3D space against real building geometry |
| 25 | Toggle Heatmap View to see WiFi signal propagation from placed APs | Color-coded signal overlay (green/yellow/red) |
| 26 | Click BOM EXPORT to generate the Bill of Materials, then SAVE to persist the project to cloud storage | BOM downloads; project saved to InsForge cloud |

Mission Objectives
Your job is to stress-test every major workflow:
1. AI Site Recon (OSINT)
- Enter a complex facility address (multi-building campus, warehouse, hospital)
- Let the AI pull structural metadata
- Verify: floor count, building material, structural context
2. Tactical Ecosystem Layout
- Place at least one of each: Camera, Node, Access Reader, WiFi AP
- Verify cable auto-routing connects devices to nearest Node
- Check footage estimates match real-world expectations
3. 3D Mission Visualizer
- Orbit the building from multiple angles
- Verify camera FOV cones in correct 3D space
- Stress test: dense urban area, note rendering latency
4. WiFi Heatmap
- Place 2-3 APs, observe signal propagation
- Test: adjust antenna gain, confirm coverage radius changes
5. Enterprise Quote Export
- Verify SKUs for placed devices (Hanwha / Axis / Ubiquiti)
- Confirm labor hours auto-calculated from cable footage
- Export PDF and confirm formatting
6. AI Blueprint Extraction
- Navigate to Blueprint tab
- Upload a photo of any floor plan
- Verify AI generates structural wireframe
Admin Panel (White-Labeling)
Enterprise partners can customize USS for their own brand:
- Click the small red lock icon at the top-right of the login box
- Login:
admin/admin123 - Configure: company name, logo, brand color, product catalog (CSV import)
Priority Bugs to Watch For
- 3D tile rendering gaps or black holes
- Cable routing that clips through walls
- Quote SKUs that don't match placed device types
- AI blueprint extraction misidentifying walls vs. door openings
